Welcome To J.S. Jenks!

This site provides helpful information for students and parents to help make this a successful year.  I encourage you to check back regularly for any updates and monitor assignments. Class policies, a calendar of events, news, important links, and contact information can be found by using the links to the right.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact me by e-mail at jhilburt@philasd.org.

The Jenks Middle School Academy is utilizing student planners.  Students will use the planners to write down homework assignments, upcoming test and project due dates, record important dates and special events, and as a hall pass.  I will use the planner to write messages for parents and will sign the planner each day to verify that assignments written down are accurate. Parents are asked to review the planner every night to check for important updates and that assignments are being completed. This consistent reinforcement will help students remain organized, learn the importance of setting priorities, and demonstrate that you value their education.  The planner is an invaluable resource to maintain communication between the classroom and the home and I strongly encourage parents to make it a part of their daily routine.

The JS Jenks attendance policy states that written documentation must be provided within 3 (three) days of an absence.  Absences will be considered unexcused if this documentation is not provided within the 3 days.  Please send a written note with your child immediately upon returning to school so that the attendance record is accurate and up-to-date.
